In the previous articles of Sharing the Word, we have noted that the Apostle Peter reveals God’s assessment of His most valued Stone, the Lord Jesus Christ. This Stone demands either its acceptance or rejection in God’s Plan of redemption. To those who receive by faith God’s provision of a Savior, He is precious.

The Apostle Peter presents Jesus Christ as precious, most valued in the estimation of the Heavenly Father. From the writings of the Apostle Paul, Peter’s mentor, the believer in Christ is said to be “in Him, in Christ, or with Him” over two hundred times.
So often we hear the comment of how precious is this child or how much someone means to a person. The word “precious” is not limited to our vocabulary for in the realm of the Godhead, that word is ascribed to the second member of the Trinity, Christ. The Apostle Peter uses this word in speaking of the Lord Jesus Christ in more than just human terms, but from the Divine perspective. The Biblical use of the word “precious” speaks of that which is of highest value, most valued, so much so, that it is reserved to describe the relationship between God the Father and God the Son.
