"Yea, though I walk through the valley… I will fear no evil: for thou art with me…" (Psalm 23:4).

Valleys happen throughout life. After every mountain top there is a valley. Jesus said in John 16:33, "In the world you will have trouble." You're going to have difficulty, disappointment, discouragement in life. The problem is that some people live in the valley most of the time. The valley is not something you stay in your entire life. It's something you go through for a season. Too many of us have an address in the valley.

There is hope. Even in our darkest valleys God is there. To some, time in the valley is the only way God can speak to us. God may have to take us down there in order to take us up to the mountain top.

"Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision" (Joel 3:14).

I’ve learned that the valley is always a place of decision. There we must grapple with our options and trust the Lord so we can make the right choice. Sometimes the only reason for staying in the valley is that you don’t make a decision to get out. Most successful people have made life changing decisions while in the valley.

Okay you’re down in the valley. Are you going to stay there the rest of your life?
