"Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord." Exodus 14:13
These are God's command to the believer when he is faced with extraordinary difficulties. He cannot retreat; he cannot go forward; he can’t move to the right hand or the left, and doesn’t know what to do. God’s word to him is "stand still." Listen only to a word from Him.
Some suggest that you just lie down and give up. But God would have us “take heart”, be cheerful, even in our worst times we can rejoice in His love and faithfulness. John 16:33
The coward says, "Retreat; go back to the worldly way of action; you cannot play the Christian's part; it is too difficult. Give up your principles."
Others suggest, "Do something; stir yourself; to stand still and wait is a waste of time." We must be doing something at once--we must do it, so we think--instead of looking to the Lord, who will not only do something, but will do everything, right.
In times of uncertainty, wait. Always, if you have any doubt, wait. Do not force yourself to any action. If you feel hesitant in your spirit, wait until all is clear, and do not go against it. Just stop. Just stand still. I have found God to be the slowest person to be on time. Faith hears God say, “stand still” and wait for Him to say, “Go forward.”
In the meantime, breathe, just breathe.
