The railroad ties are being replaced on a track near my home. Crossovers will be ripped up and barricaded while the work is being done. One crossover is midway and the detour will be a big inconvenience.

Inconvenience is an annoying occurrence that makes you go out of your way, like the inconvenience of a detour that takes you off your usual route. It is something that doesn’t fit easily into your life, though it doesn’t cause suffering, either.

When God wants to move you forward he often stretches you to do more in and through you. It usually looks like inconvenience. Making the decision to do what is best for others at the expense of what is comfortable for you is an inconvenience. Imagine what might happen if you just surrender, be obedient and willing to be uncomfortable!

Jesus was inconvenienced often. But it was in His inconvenience that miracles happened. Do you ever wonder how God wants to use you? When you change your plans because someone needs your help or stop in the middle of what you are doing to be there for another person, God can do miracles!

…But the crowds found out where he was going, and they followed him. He welcomed them and taught them about the Kingdom of God, and he healed those who were sick. Luke 9:10-11

“If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me.” Luke 9:23-25

Take the unusual inconvenient route today. See what God will do!
