We had two trees in the backyard. The Chinese Beauty tree offered many branches to climb and just sit. In season the berries it produced would fall and be thrown as bullets by the lawn mower. My favorite tree to climb was the maple tree. No matter what kind of mood I was in, these trees were still available and ready for whatever I had in mind. It didn't matter if I carved anything on them they carried each one as a proud tattoo of the one they loved. My meager tree house gave a place to relax above the difficulties below.
I pity the person who only sees creation as the product of chance. They see their own lives having no more value than any other product of evolution.
I choose to believe that God made those trees for me. He didn’t create them because He needed something else to do and this seemed like a good idea. But He created them so that I might get another mental picture of the nature of the One who can make something from nothing. Those trees told me that God would be everything I would ever need. He would comfort me, provide for me, protect me, and hold me no matter when or how I came to Him. And He will do you the same.
And out of the ground, the Lord God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. Genesis 2:9
