Mickey loves fetching his ball.  Often he is so focused to get his teeth on that ball he would dash between chairs or slams into the kitchen cabinets. He would run it back to me bit growled refusing to let it go and bite it all the harder.

It prompted me to wonder, why does he bring back the ball anyway? Maybe it was because he desires to run further and faster or perhaps because there is great joy in simply chasing the ball. If there is so much joy in pursuing that ball, why doesn’t he let it go back into my hands? Does he not trust that he will get it back?

Playing fetch with Mickey started me thinking about our pursuit of dreams. We chase them. And they are indeed fun to chase. We attain them, but then we come back to God wanting something more. We want a chance to run faster or go further.  Yet many times we simply aren’t willing to drop our dreams back into the God’s hands. We want to hold on to what we have in our grasp. We aren’t really sure that if we give it all we will get it all back.

What dreams do you have or are chasing? It’s possible that God has even bigger dreams for you. He may have plans for you to go even further. All you really need to do is let go?

"We make our plans, but God determines our steps." Proverbs 16:9

"Until the time came to fulfill his dreams, the Lord tested Joseph." Psalm 105:19
