A servant of Elisha the prophet borrowed an ax so that he could cut down trees near the Jordan River to build a place for the prophet to live. Suddenly, the ax head slides off the handle and falls quickly to the bottom of the river. He was deeply troubled because the ax was a valuable tool, and it belonged to someone else. In the days of Elisha, there wasn’t a Lowes or Home Depot in every city.

The servant showed the man of God where the ax head sunk. Elisha cuts a branch from a nearby tree and throws it where the man indicated. The iron floats.

"‘Lift it out,’ he said. Then the man reached out his hand and took it." 2 Kings 6:6-7

God defies gravity. The ax head becomes visible so that the man can reach it. Our God is no different today. He can still defy gravity and make ax heads float. What does Elisha have that we don’t have?

"He is the same yesterday and today and forever." Hebrews 13:8

"Jesus replied, ‘What is impossible with man is possible with God.’" Luke 18:27

Elisha was an ordinary man with extraordinary faith. He took God at His word. Because of it, he did miraculous things to glorify our Father’s name.

Are issues pulling you down? Believe today that God can do the impossible in your life.

He can defy gravity to help you.
