On the ocean edge slowly dying were a dozen beached jellyfish. A breaking wave managed to lift one of the creatures and gently move it back into the water. Subsequent waves pulled him out enough so he could swim away into a place of life and joy. The ocean is a source of life, strength, and tranquility. The event reminded me how God works in life.
There seem to be times in our lives when we are beached on life's shore, out of the living water. We sit there wondering if God has forgotten His promises to us. But He never does. Months or years may pass, but regardless of the length of time, always remember the plans He has for you.
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
God does not operate according to anyone's schedule. Joseph spent years in Egyptian exile before He realized what the Lord wanted to do in his life. The time he spent in prison was not wasted. God was preparing him for an even greater purpose and only time would reveal it. His responsibility was to wait obediently for the Lord to work.
The next time you are tempted to become anxious or impatient, remember God always blesses those who are committed to waiting for and trusting Him. He will be there to gently move you into the waters of His plan, just as I did for the jellyfish.
